Daily Happenings: This week our van sprung a leak. I was rounding the corner and thought I smelled something like hot water. Then I smelled grilling burger from Chips, so I thought perhaps I was mistaken. No, I was right because when I parked in the driveway, there was steam coming from under the hood. Sure enough, drip, drip, drip. The final diagnosis for repair was $550. She had been a good van, but after 195,000 miles, perhaps it was time to put her out to pasture. Today we bought a 2008 Chevy Impala. Thank the Lord he helped up be able to make the purchase. It was an answer to prayer and met a need in our lives. I might also mention here that I've been wanting an Impala for several years.
Memory: Speaking of cars, let me tell you about my first car. My brother and I pooled our resources and bought a 1959 Chevrolet. I think it was 1969 or 1970 when we bought it, and I believe we paid $100 for it. It was the kind that had the wings on the back. It was sort of like driving a tank. Gas was about $.17/gallon. We were in high school when we bought it. I had a job working at a hamburger stand for $1.00 an hour. We had to share the time we could use it. Jeff had a girlfriend at the time, so he used is a lot for dates with her. Somehow we worked in all out and both enjoyed the time we had the car.
